2) L8 Reports
TG met twice since last plenary. Produced comments for ballots for 11179-3 and 20943-1. Parts 1, 2, and 5 have WD's. Discussion of Part 6 was high level, but there needs to be a list of required attributes for each administered item before Phong can describe "certified" status.
WG 2 meeting in Victoria for 17 Oct - 25 Oct in Victoria, BC
c) Report on JTC1/SC32 matters (B. Bargmeyer)
SC 32 meeting scheduled for 21 Oct - 25 Oct in Victoria, BC. Funding for secretariat is not currently available. Larry and Bruce are working on this. Bruce applied for chair for next 3 years, but this is his last term. Funding and "pay to play" are still issues for JTC1.
L8 is involved in many international projects at this time. KIF and CG are to be combined in SC32. L8 is co-sponsor of Metatopia.
3) Liaison reports
ITS data registry has completed 1st upgrade, enhancements to reports capabilities, including subsets. Registry extended to data interchange, including messages and data frames. Some 5000 data concepts (administered items and messages) are included. Nothing above recorded status. TC 204 is working on ISO 14817, which is an amalgamation of IEEE 1488, 1489, ISO/IEC 11179 and lessons learned on building ITS registry. Korea and Japan are establishing their own data registries. ISO 14817 is out for CD ballot. Document will be sent to Dan, and he will distribute it to L8 for comments. Comments to be sent to Andy. Needs to accommodate modeling and UML are being discussed. There are disconnects between different parts of UML. There will be multiple ITS registries, so coordination with TC204 specification is needed. ITS registry may be adopted for internationalization.
Object Constraint language (OCL) to be a basis for UML and is based on logic so can be linked to CGs and KIF.
c) W3C (B. Bargmeyer)
Next meeting of advisor committee in France, then Hawaii. XML-Schema spec is out. Bruce is pushing for liaison with UDDI, met at XML.gov meeting.
