The following reports the issues raised and decisions made: 1. The meeting focused on reviewing and commenting on the document BSR PROJ N0021, (JT/95©0292 J, X3L8 /95©019) Rules and Guidelines for the Specification of BSUÀÀs and Bridges. This document was circulated by the JTC1 TAG to the U.S. TAGs to SC 1, SC 14, SC 21, as well as JTC 1 TAG members. Comments will be consolidated with those received from the SC 30 TAG, TC 154, and X12. The consolidated comments will be submitted by JTC 1 to the BSR Management Committee. Many comments were made. Bruce Bargmeyer recorded the comments and will forward them to Judy Newton and Phong Ngo. Judy will review them and Phong will prepare them for response through formal channels. They are due September 1, 1995. The BSR is of particular interest to X3L8 members as the first well publicized implementation utilizing ISO/IEC 11179 since Parts 3, 4, and 5 have achieved IS status. As such it is working out details that may serve as a reference for other implementations to follow. Organizations in the U.S. that are developing or expect to develop registries in accord with Part 6 are also interested in the BSR effort. These registries may wish to become participating industry directories to the BSR. It is important that the BSR be interoperable with registries conformant to ISO/IEC 11179. 2. A large number of comments about the BSR are flying about on the BSR, X3L8 and other reflectors. This informal means of communication is speedy and helps to make rapid progress. It should be recognized that the comments made in that manner are typically the comments of individuals, not official statements issued by groups. It was agreed that we will use the Internet capabilities to the extent possible. In doing so we will try to indicate clearly whether messages are official/informal and/or the view of the responder only. In this vein, Phong will send an informal version of our comments on the above document out to the X3L8©NEWS and BSR reflectors and will post them to the X3L8 FTP site (see bottom of message). 3. Phong Ngo and Judy Newton passed out copies of the proposed New Work Items for SC 14. These will be sent to the SC 14 Secretariat for distribution to members. 4. David Gradwell sent an email message to Bruce Bargmeyer requesting a FAX number for receipt of BSR metamodel documents. Bruce will be out much of the next three weeks, so a response was sent to David Gradwell asking that the documents be sent to Paul Hawes. Paul will take care of distribution of the material to the X3L8 SIG participants. 5. Bruce Bargmeyer and Bill Kenworthey discussed the generation of a new version of 11179 Part 2. Bruce is working on a draft that includes material from Buzios. There are some issues that need to be raised for comment. Bruce will prepare messages to be sent out on the Internet for comment before the October WG4 meeting. 6.
