The following reports the issues raised and decisions made: 1. Phong Ngo and Judy Newton distributed copies of the proposed New Work Items for SC 14. Some suggestions were made for edits. The revised documents will be forwarded to ISO for consideration at the WG4 meeting. The documents are to be made available on the X3L8 server. 2. Discussion of BSR The BSR and the current state of comments on the BSR was discussed. Many informal comments are being made due to the fast turn around time needed by the developers. In general, it is not possible for the entire committee to meet and agree upon formal comments within the time available. 3. Public review of Metamodel Paul Hawes distributed a draft of the document which is to be circulated for public comment. Considerable discussions of the document and the metamodel ensued and recommendations for edits were made. The SIG recommends that X3L8 vote to send the Metamodel out for Public Comment. The editor is requested to make the changes recommended at the SIG meeting and to send the final version (paper copy) to all X3L8 members. The members will have one week to comment on the final draft. If any comments are made, the editor will prepare a message on the disposition of the comments. The message will be sent to all X3L8 members electronically or by FAX. If there are no objections, the metamodel will be sent out. If there are objections, they will be resolved by a telephone calls, a conference call or a meeting, whichever is necessary to gain concurrence on a resolution. It was agreed to call it the Metamodel for Management of Sharable Data. [Note: The mechanics of this were changed at the X3L8 meeting.] 4. Content of Metamodel The metamodel was discussed late into the night on the second day. Some alternative formulations were concieved for the metamodel. These formulations resolved several issues. There are still several issues that remain. It is hoped that during the public review, we can gain comments on some of the outstanding issues. 5. Future X3L8 SIG Meetings and X3L8 Plenary meetings: Meetings marked À ÀNISTÀÀ are held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology Gaithersburg, Maryland Meetings marked ITI are held at the Information Technology Industry (ITI) Council Second Floor 1250 Eye Street Washington, D.C.
